The Accounts Administration Apprentice will assist in various accounting tasks to support the smooth operation of financial activities within the organisation. Through hands-on involvement in daily accounting activities, you will contribute to maintaining accurate financial records.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Assisting with Purchase Ledger direct debit accounts.
  • Weekly maintenance and distribution of invoice query log.
  • Statement reconciliation for Purchase Ledger to resolve all queries and investigate when required.
  • Monitoring of cash sale accounts including allocating cash and liaising with the relevant departments.
  • Allocating all Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger payments against the relevant transactions.
  • Assisting with Credit Control to monitor overdue accounts, communicating with customers for timely payments.
  • Support purchase ledger with any outstanding administrative duties

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with new account opening and credit limit monitoring.
  • Accurately reviewing personal expenses for staff to be reimbursed.
  • Answer the telephone in a timely manner, screen and direct calls to the correct person.
  • Provide basic and accurate financial information in person via phone/email.
  • Make travel arrangements for colleagues as and when required.
  • Carry out postal duties including receiving and distributing of company post.
  • Scanning purchase ledger invoices to POMS system and ensuring files are saved in relevant folders.
  • Monitoring mailboxes for any queries and distributing them accordingly.
  • Perform other clerical administration duties across the organisation as and when required.

Assisting with POMS Integrations to ensure all purchase order numbers are exported to accounting software

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
  • You will be studying a Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship standard over an 18-month period.
  • This is a fully work based programme you will get allocated time to complete your apprenticeship work and also receive regular meetings with your training provider.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
