What will the apprentice be doing?
  • Carry out training on plant and equipment in relation to container handling, including counterbalance forklifts, tug master units and reach stackers and gantry crane
  • Carry out training in plant and machinery related to the loading and unloading of cargo and RoRo vessels, including, port cranes, hoppers, wheeled loading shovels, counterbalance forklifts and tug master units
  • Assist with hatch-man/banksman duties on vessel and quayside operations
  • Assist in the safe and efficient discharge and loading of vessels including the slinging and manual handling of cargo as required.
  • Assist with the receipt and dispatch of containers accurately in accordance with company and customer procedures
  • Assist with the operation of the biomass rail loading facility
  • Assist with the loading and un-loading of vehicles as per company procedures
  • Assist with the receipt and dispatch of goods and material into storage
  • Assist with general house-keeping and hygiene standards.
  • Carry out training in the container control system and Destin 8, or relevant software in order to perform the duties of the post effectively
  • Assist with warehouse duties when required
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Your apprenticeship training will be a fully work-based learning programme across 12 months. Upon completion of your apprenticeship, you will achieve a level 2 qualification as a Supply chain warehouse operative Level 2

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
• Potential full time position available upon completion of apprenticeship.
