What will the apprentice be doing?

What you will be doing:

The role exists to assist in providing support to the Washington site.

To support the Washington plant Supervisor Team to continuously improve the UAP taking part in activities such as 8D reporting, SMED, 5S, OEE, SAP, TPM, PDP, daily data inputting and driving continuous improvement within the business in line with Adler Pelzer Washington Ltd rules.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Assist the supervisor in daily production data input and improving accuracy of information across the department providing support and coaching the team
  • Support the supervisor analysis of underperforming lines and driving improvement actions regarding the plant OEE
  • Support the shopfloor in HSE stop work process and observe unsafe situations during daily tour
  • Coordinate daily and monthly SAP V TRS reporting lead improvement actions
  • Ordering & monitoring of consignment stock for the UAP department
  • Support daily 5s audits and follow up on improvement activities
  • Cover and understand the production process when required
  • Set up global index update and maintain current work instructions and standardised work
  • Work alongside UAL department to analyse daily & weekly PDP achievement
  • Attend daily 8D review and improve the quality standards in the UAP analysing daily scrap data

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will work towards a qualification in level 2 lean manufacturing operative which will be one of the below:

  • EAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) 603/3589/0
  • ETCAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) 603/5151/2
  • Pearson BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) 603/4344/8
  • OAL Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (Knowledge and Skills) Ofqual number: 603/6783/0
  • City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) 610/0180/6

No other qualification can be completed within this standard.
