Zenith Training has worked with Whitburn Church of England Academy for several years, developing a strong and positive relationship with both staff and students. All activities delivered have been pitched at the right level, ensuring students feel supported, engaged, and inspired to take their next steps beyond education.
Whitburn’s careers programme is a core part of its sixth form offer, and Zenith has consistently played a key role in strengthening this provision. From delivering workshops and attending careers fairs to offering direct progression opportunities, the partnership has been instrumental in helping students explore pathways beyond the traditional university route.
While university remains a popular destination for many Whitburn sixth formers, increasing numbers of students are considering apprenticeships as a credible and valuable alternative. Zenith has worked closely with the school to ensure that these students receive high-quality advice, guidance, and opportunities.
The success of this partnership is best demonstrated by two Whitburn alumni, Natasha and Erin, who are now part of the Zenith team.
“When at Whitburn Sixth Form, I studied Business, Economics and Geography. During this time, we received plenty of support towards our next steps, but most of it was geared towards people going to university, as that was what most students planned to do.
I always knew I wanted an apprenticeship, and while I received advice from school, nothing really developed further. There were a few fairs held in which apprenticeship providers came to advertise opportunities. This was where I met Ian from Zenith, who explained how he could help me.
After keeping in touch, Ian contacted me with a Business Administration role at Zenith a few months later. I applied, was successful, and I am now really enjoying my apprenticeship here at Zenith Training.”

“Throughout my GCSEs I received outstanding support from both subject teachers and tutors, and this continued into sixth form. My teachers pushed us to achieve more, and I also took part in enrichment opportunities such as the Maths Olympiad for Girls and presenting a psychology experiment at Sunderland University.
Alongside academic support, we were offered valuable career guidance. I applied for both university places and apprenticeships, but with advice from the sixth form, I realised that an apprenticeship would better suit my career aspirations.
I am now completing the Level 7 CIMA Accounting and Taxation Apprenticeship with Zenith. It allows me to work towards a globally recognised qualification while gaining practical, hands-on experience. Zenith’s values align perfectly with my goals, and I’m really enjoying the challenge.”

The stories of Erin and Natasha highlight how Zenith Training’s ongoing partnership with Whitburn has created meaningful opportunities for students to pursue apprenticeships and careers tailored to their ambitions.
The fact that Natasha and Erin are now thriving at Zenith speaks volumes about the strength of this collaboration.
