Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP) – Build Your Workforce with the Right Skills

SWAP is designed to support employers by providing a pipeline of job-ready candidates who have undertaken industry-specific training. Delivered in partnership with Job Centre Plus, this initiative helps people receiving unemployment benefits transition into new roles while ensuring businesses like yours gain access to skilled, motivated individuals. 

 

How Does SWAP Work?

Each sector-based work academy lasts up to six weeks and consists of three key elements: 

  • Pre-Employment Training: Bespoke training tailored to your sector’s needs, ensuring candidates develop the necessary skills before they start. 
  • Work experience placement: A chance for employers to assess potential candidates in a real working environment and for businesses to recruit the best-suited talent. 
  • Guaranteed Job Interview: A structured opportunity for participants to secure employment and for businesses to recruit the best-suited talent.

The government covers training and administration costs, as well as participant expenses such as travel and childcare.
