Apprenticeships are a great way of earning recognised qualifications whilst gaining real life work experience. An apprenticeship can offer a ‘foot in the door’ opportunity to individuals who lack experience, to start their professional career in an area of interest.
Here at Zenith Training, we’ve pulled together the top 5 reasons why you should consider an apprenticeship.
1. Gain the relevant training and experience
An apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to receive the relevant training you need to gain your qualification, but it takes place on the job; meaning you are learning in the same environment as you’re working. Apprenticeships offer individuals essential work experience for the future.
2. Learn while you earn
One of the main benefits of undergoing an apprenticeship is you can earn a fair wage whilst undergoing training and skills development. The National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 per hour. This applies to apprentices under the age of 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year.
3. Career progression opportunities
Once you have completed your apprenticeship and laid down the foundations of your chosen career path, you have a good chance of gaining a more senior role with your employer, or you could choose to progress elsewhere.
4. Anyone can become an apprentice
Apprenticeships aren’t just for young people. Anyone over the age of 16, not in full time education and don’t have any conflicting qualifications can now be enrolled onto an apprenticeship.
5. A variety of opportunities
Nowadays the variety of apprenticeship courses you can choose from is extensive; so, the likelihood is that you can undergo an apprenticeship in almost any career you wish to progress in. Apprenticeships have four levels; Intermediate (Level 2), Advanced (Level 3), Higher (Level 4,5,6 and 7) and Degree (Level 6 & 7).
